FIRST TIME GUESTS
Visiting any church for the very first time can be an uneasy experience. We want to put you at ease and help answer some frequently asked questions. Your visit to Wayside Chapel will be a welcome experience. People have said that our church is very friendly and helpful to guests. We want you to experience inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people and a place where you feel at home. Here are a few answers to your questions.
1. How do I find my way around the facility?
As you pull onto the campus you will notice that we are undergoing construction to the south of our building, so bear with us. We have parking for first time guests closest to the main entrance. Just look for the guest parking signs. As you enter the building our friendly greeters will meet you and help direct you to the right classes and services. They can also answer other questions you might have.
2. How do I find the classes for my children?
It’s not as complicated as it may seem and we would like to help you find the appropriate nurseries, classes and services for every person in your family. Our greeters, ushers and Information counter are located in the lobby and will gladly help direct and even escort you to the right place. Don’t be afraid to ask!
3. What is the morning schedule?
Our Sunday morning begins with Sunday School at 9:00 am. We offer several Sunday school classes, divided by age, for every member of the family. Our Nursery for babies is staffed with trained, loving people who are ready to care for the little ones in your family. You will be given a number when you register your baby in the nursery and toddler rooms and if we need you during the Worship service your assigned number will flash on the large screen.
Sunday School ends at 10:00 am and there is 30 minutes before the worship service begins. Just enough time to pick up the kids from their classes and take them to the snack shack and be ready for worship service at 10:30 am.
4. How should I dress?
There is not a dress code at Wayside. We do encourage our leaders to dress neatly; however, you will see people in suits and ties and also in casual wear. We would never want this to hinder anyone from coming to our church, and especially to Christ.
5. Will I be singled out as a visitor?
Absolutely not! We make a general announcement to our guests during the service that welcomes them and ask them to visit our Information Counter in the lobby so that we may give them a small gift and information about the church.
6. Am I expected to participate in the offering and Communion?
Guests are not expected to participate in the offering, we want you to relax and enjoy the service. Our Communion celebration is offered on the first Sunday of the month. This is a time of self-reflection and praise for the sacrifice that Jesus Christ has made on our behalf. Because of that, this time of fellowship with the Lord is reserved for professing Christians. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, then we invite and encourage you to participate.
If there’s something we missed on this list, just give us a call, or ask someone when you arrive. Whether you are new to the area or looking for a home church or if it’s been a long time since you’ve attended church, we hope your first visit to Wayside will be a great experience. We want to serve you and your family, and we are looking forward to meeting you personally. We hope you’ll feel right at home from the very first time you step onto our campus! We hope to meet you Sunday! |
